The TESDA scholarship free training is the Philippine government’s answer in addressing the skills shortage in various public and private sectors. To achieve this goal, TESDA agency is giving financial assistance to qualified Filipinos thru various scholarship programs. As of this posting, there are 4 kinds of scholarship programs that are being offered to deserving future TVET program enrollees and these scholarship programs are:

Private Education Student Financial Assistance (PESFA)

This scholarship program of DepEd was established through Section 8 of Republic Act No. 8545, otherwise known as the Expanded Government Assistance to students in TVET or Technical Vocational Education and Training courses. This scholarship program also aims to help private educational institutions by giving them assurance of a constant supply of enrollees to their courses offered.

PESFA Scholarship Eligibility

  • Filipino citizen
  • At least 15 years old at the start of the training program
  • Finished at least 10 years of basic education or ALS graduate
  • Yearly family income should not exceed 300K

PESFA Benefits

  1. Free training and competency assessment
  2. Student allowance of P60.00 per day of training duration
  3. Book allowance of P2,000.00 for the whole training program (for bundled program) and P500.00 for non-bundled program (for one qualification)

Special Training for Employment Program (STEP)

The Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) is a community-based training program aimed at providing skills and training opportunities to members of the community to make them more employable and productive members of the society. The training programs offered under STEP are short term and based on the training regulations published by TESDA

STEP Scholarship Eligibility

  • Filipino
  • At least 15 years of age at the beginning of the training program

STEP Scholarship Benefits

  1. Free training
  2. Free competency assessment
  3. Free entrepreneurship training
  4. Free starter tool kits
  5. Training allowance of sixty pesos (Php 60.00) per day for the duration of the training

Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP)

This scholarship program of TESDA is aimed at enhancing TVET access and encourage technical education and skills development for the needed workers of key employment generating as well as emerging industries like business process management, information technology, automotive, semiconductor and electronics, and many others.

TWSP Scholarship Eligibility

  • Filipino citizen
  • At least 18 years old at the end of the training program

TWSP Scholarship Benefits

  1. Free skill training
  2. Free competency assessment
Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA)

This scholarship program was established through Republic Act No. 10931 whose main purpose is to promote universal access to quality tertiary education in State Colleges and State Universities (SUCs), Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) and state-run Technical Vocational Institutions (STVIs) by giving tertiary education subsidy thru a student loan program. R.A. 10931 was signed into law by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on August 3, 2017.

UAQTEA Scholarship Eligibility

  • Must be a Filipino
  • Completed at least 10 years basic education
  • Not college graduate
  • Must undergo NCAE/MATB/YP4SC profiling
  • Not a holder of NC III qualification or higher except if enrolled in Level 1V bundled programs or diploma courses
  • Not a recipient of any scholarship grant from other government agency

UAQTEA Benefits

  1. Subsidized training and competency assessment
  2. Student allowance
  3. Free toolkits
